Frequently asked questions - FAQ
The most frequently asked questions from our customers and the answers to them
Why replacement filters instead of originals?
It's simple: the same rules and guidelines apply to all filters (EN779:2012 or ISO16890). Therefore, there is no difference for you in terms of use and benefit. The materials are selected with care and with the greatest customer benefit in mind, so that there are no restrictions for you. Thanks to optimized production, large quantities, clever logistics processes and tight costing, we are able to offer the best prices on the market and
if you are still unsure whether the replacement filters are the right ones, we also have original filters in our range for certain models - also at the best prices! Why does ersatzfilter-shop.ch have the best prices?
Our aim is to always offer our customers the best price for filters on the market without compromising on quality. In addition, our customers should always be sure that they are getting the best offer. If we have overlooked a better offer from another supplier, we will be happy to hear from you and improve our offer (if possible). We assure you that all filters are manufactured in accordance with European Standard 779 or ISO 16890 and meet the quality requirements of the system manufacturers.
Why is regular filter replacement so important?
First and foremost, changing the filters regularly cleans the air in living spaces. But there is more to it than that. Regular replacement keeps the system components of a controlled domestic ventilation system (heat exchanger, pipes, etc.) clean. This is important because otherwise the system loses efficiency / effectiveness and cleaning the ventilation pipes / system can be costly.
another important point is that heavily contaminated filters lead to overpressure in the building. The air still looks for a way out and usually finds it in the roof or windows. When the warm air meets cold air, condensation forms, which in turn can lead to mold growth, usually in invisible places. Regular filter changes are therefore guaranteed to pay off in the long term.
How often do I need to change the filters in a controlled domestic ventilation system?
Follow the system manufacturer's recommendation. As a rule, a filter change is recommended 2-4 times a year. However, there are circumstances that change the service life of a filter, and
alonger service life of a KWL filter can be achieved by using a pre-filter (filter directly at the air intake point or pre-filter box). Do not forget to check the pre-filter regularly. Air filters that are operated near intersections / railroad tracks (brake dust) have a shorter service life. Heavy pollen loads (agricultural areas) or industrial operations / construction sites also lead to faster contamination of the filters.
some systems have a pressure difference monitor and indicate exactly when it is time to change the filter. Other KWL devices have a simple interval display, which indicates a filter change every 4 months, for example.
Does ersatzfilter-shop.ch also offer a subscription?
Even better - ersatzfilter-shop.ch has developed a reminder service for you, which saves you time and money. We will send you an e-mail reminder after a period of time defined by you to remind you that it is time to think about your replacement filter replenishment. In the e-mail you receive, you will find a direct link to the shopping cart, which will already be filled with the items from your last order. If you wish, you can adjust the product and quantity and complete the order as usual. Now you can wait again for the next reminder from ersatzfilter-shop.ch
Note: This is not a subscription! No order will be triggered automatically. If you do not wish to order any filters after receiving a reminder, you can simply ignore the e-mail. The reminder e-mail will only be sent to you once, so you will not find an unsubscribe link.
Where can I define the reminder service interval?
During an order, you can choose in the 4th step of the order process how many months (1-24 months) you would like to be reminded. If you would like to change the time of the reminder after completing an order, please contact us so that we can make the desired change for you.

With or without a maintenance contract / service contract?
We are often asked whether maintenance contracts for ventilation systems make sense. In principle, we recommend checking the ventilation system regularly and, above all, changing the filters. This results in lower (cleaning / maintenance) costs in the long term and you maintain the value of the system. To make maintenance a little easier for you, we have prepared a guide for you. Basically, the question arises as to the advantages and disadvantages of a maintenance contract. (costs, effort, accessibility of the system, benefits, etc.)
Our experience shows that maintenance and cleaning work can also be carried out by the users or owners of the KWL (controlled domestic ventilation). If defects or damage occur, the service contract (which varies depending on the provider) is of no help. Repairs are usually carried out separately by a certified specialist. It is important to maintain the system. This includes, above all, cleaning all components, visually inspecting the components and, of course, changing the filters.
I can't find my ventilation system / KWL in the list of manufacturers.
We are constantly expanding our range. We need your help to do this. Let us know your system type or the exact filter mass. We will check whether we can offer this filter at the best price and add it to our online store. The filters are then either available from stock or within a short time. Don't worry - it doesn't cost anything to ask.
Is it possible to order custom-made products?
Yes, no problem. Do you have a special ventilation system or a custom-made product? Then we are the right partner for you. We can offer you filters as custom-made products from just one piece. From simple filter mats in special dimensions to compact filters/compact filters, filters with galvanized metal frames, pocket filters, hood filters, cell filters with cardboard frames, cell filters with plastic frames or HoKu frames in almost all filter classes. Get in touch with us - we will be happy to advise you.
Are the stock levels on the product pages correct?
Yes, we always endeavor to keep the current stock levels correct. So if you need a filter quickly (e.g. for an apartment delivery), you can see immediately whether we have the filter you need in stock. If we receive an order by 11.00 a.m. on working days (except Monday), the goods will be handed over to the post office on the same day. During the ordering process, you can choose whether the products should be sent Priority or Economy. As soon as the filters leave our premises, you will receive an e-mail message with the new shipping status and the tracking code (for parcels) from the post office.
Are partial deliveries sent?
In principle, we only send the delivery when it is complete. If the quantity ordered exceeds the stock level, it may take some time for the filters to be delivered to you. We will inform you of the estimated delivery time. However, if you would like a partial delivery, please contact us or make a note of this on your order. In the case of a partial delivery, the shipping costs will be charged at least once.
Should I order even if the stock level is below my desired quantity?

What does ersatzfilter-shop.ch do for the environment?
If you think we are writing something here to do some greenwashing - far from it. Our business requires electricity, resources and produces waste. Efficiency is the magic word here. Wherever possible, we try to avoid waste, resources and idle time. For example, we are proud of the fact that we only produce one 110-liter bag of waste per week, despite hundreds of orders. Conserving resources and using them where it really makes sense. Recycle where possible.
We try to reduce resources wherever possible, especially when it comes to packaging/shipping packaging. This means that, depending on the quantity and product, we sometimes pack several identical items in the same bag. The stuffing material we use includes bubble wrap made from 100% recycled material. We also use used cardboard boxes from time to time. They may not look perfect, but they protect our environment (and, to be honest, our wallets - so we can continue to offer the best prices). We also wrap many products in film made from 80% recycled material. This is more CO2-friendly than cardboard packaging. The fact is: compared to plastic alternatives, paper packaging is up to twice as heavy with the same tear resistance, offers only limited product protection and, above all, requires significantly more energy, water and chemicals to produce than plastic.
Do the ventilation filters help against the coronavirus?
Yes and no. In principle, viruses are only filtered out from filter class E10. However, only very few ventilation systems are designed for such filters. Especially those that are used in laboratories. This means that an E10 filter cannot simply be installed in a normal, private domestic ventilation system. However, the ventilation system does have one major advantage. Viruses usually adhere to a particle. This means that even an F7 filter (or e.g. ePm1 50%) can already keep out some of the viruses. However, it is important to continue to operate the system and maintain it correctly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and, above all, to change the filters consistently and regularly. Protect yourself when changing the filter!
