Maintenance of a controlled domestic ventilation system

Simple basic rules will help you to keep the ventilation system in top condition. We have compiled a clear list to help you check the ventilation system so that no component of the controlled domestic ventilation system is forgotten.

  • Adhere to the manufacturer's maintenance interval and replace the filters regularly.

  • Please do not wash any filters. Filters must be replaced! The properties of the filter are impaired or even destroyed and can lead to heavy soiling, invalidation of the manufacturer's guarantee or even failure of your controlled domestic ventilation/ventilation system.

  • Clean the air intake covers and grilles in the living areas regularly. Do not forget to replace theexhaust airdiffuserfilters, if present.

  • check the outside air intake grille / intake tower. There should be no damage or holes. Also take a look at the exhaust air opening.

  • Check the inside of your ventilation system for dirt. Contamination should always occur before a filter, never after. Dirty areas can be carefully cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Please ensure that no sensors are damaged.

  • Check the inside of the system for condensation and its drainage. Condensation can lead to mold growth and unpleasant odors.

  • Check that the seals on the covers and lids are still fit for purpose and are not dirty. If necessary, a rubber seal can be treated sparingly with a silicone stick.

  • open the service flaps of the ventilation ducts and take a look inside. Moisture or even mold are a sign that something is wrong. Contact a specialist. The ventilation ducts should also be clean. There may still be dirt in the pipes from the construction phase.

  • Don't forget the pre-filter. It is possible that your system has an additional pre-filter next to the actual system or directly next to the fresh air supply (outside air, box, tower). This must also be checked and replaced regularly.

  • Check the programming of the system. The ventilation program may no longer meet your requirements due to a power failure, for example. Take a look at it.

If you are unsure, contact a certified technician to have the system checked.
